Facilitator Bio
Nellie Kwok was born in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) on April 6, 1979. She was primarily raised in Toronto, but spent a few years of her childhood in Hong Kong. Upon finishing her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, Nellie worked in the insurance industry and eventually became Partner of a supplemental pension planning and high net worth insurance company. In 2010, she decided to change her career path and co-founded Momentus Event Design and Management Group, an event planning agency which specializes in corporate and social events. She currently resides in Toronto with her
family.
Having attended Catholic elementary and high schools, Nellie became interested in learning Buddhism in the late 90's, after her mother (Judith Wong) and uncle (Thomas Wong) took refuge and became disciples of His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III. All of the questions and inner struggles she ever had about the the purpose of life and death, the inequalities of the world, and so on, could all be answered completely through the Buddha's teachings. In August 2002, she had the good fortune to meet with the Buddha Master, take refuge, and be accepted as His disciple. At that time, she was given the dharma name Kai Hui (開慧) which means "opening wisdom". In June 2012, she obtained her certification in Master of Dharma-Listening Sessions.
Nellie can converse in Cantonese and some Mandarin, but cannot read or write Chinese. In pursuit of learning the Buddha Dharma, she has attended several English translated classes and special retreats held by Ven. Zhaxi Zhuma Shang Da De in addition to hearing the Chinese Dharma discourses expounded by His Holiness Dorje Change Buddha III.
