Gongjue Tuji (Alexander Koppe) was born in southern Germany in 1977. While finishing his studies of Media Technology at the Technical University of Ilmenau he spent one semester in China as an intern.
Although he started his journey for seeking the truth of life in his years as a teenager, his karmic conditions led him to Daoism and the study of the Yi Jing, the Book of Changes. Only during his stay in China in 2004 a meeting with a lay buddhist made it clear to him what he was really looking for all the time.
After returning to Germany in 2005 he started studying the buddhist scriptures, especially the Hinayana teachings for lay people. But he was quickly attracted by the teachings of the Mahayana and took the Three Refuges at the Shaolin Temple in Berlin. While trying to practice Zen meditation and reciting the name of Amitabha Buddha on his own he strongly felt the need for more spiritual guidance. The thought „If I have to die tomorrow what have I really achieved with my practice?“ did not let him rest and he was ready to travel far for a competent teacher.
While looking for the „real thing“ he stumbled in 2008 over the Dharma discourse „What is Cultivation?“ from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. He immediately recognized the difference of this teaching in comparison to what he knew before. He finally found Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche over the internet and travelled to Sanger to see her. He then took the Four Refuges with her in 2009. The Xuanfa Dharmazentrum of Cologne was established in the same year in order to make the Dharma discourses and teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III known and available to German speaking people.
In January of 2011 a Commission of Holy Virtuous Ones From Around the World Respectfully Invited by the International Buddhism Sangha Association to Seek and Recognize, formally recognized Gongjue Tuji as a reincarnated rinpoche.
In January of 2017 Gongjue Tuji received his certification of … De, Blue Button Grade One. This certification was based on his completion of a 100 question essay test and a test of virtue by Holy Dharma Protectors.
