HH. Dorje Chang Buddha III

To stress how important the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation is, we must remember that just before the Buddha left this world His Holiness told us that . . . At all times, we must think about bringing auspiciousness, serenity, happiness, and peace to living beings and to the world, to the extent of giving our all and even our lives. I have already brought true Buddha Dharma to this world. Everyone who practices in accordance with The Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation and Imparting the Absolute Truth Through the Heart Sutra will surely attain liberation. That’s all. I wish all living beings happiness.”

This course on the holy sutra by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III includes the “90-day Challenge”, which is required for all Xiuxing Seminary students. It involves practicing the two mind essences (Part I and Part II) included in the sutra every day and documenting what you observe as well as demonstrating your understanding of the Dharma.

It will include the Dharma Manual, when available, and may also include the following Dharma Discourses when they are available in English: “Regarding the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation” and “The Introductory Guide to, the Concise and Brief Practice of the Preliminary Practice of, and Brief Description of the Formal Practice of the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation” and ” One of the More Than 100 Topics in the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation.” Alternatively, the above discourses may be offered as separate courses.

You do not need to become a Buddhist to practice this very high Dharma as it can be practiced at many levels. However, we can only make all of this preliminary translation available to Xiuxing Seminary students at this time. The SAUMOL explains the different techniques needed to practice cultivation and meditation.

A preliminary translation of the SAUMOL has been recorded by the temple’s abbot for use in this course. Part of this Dharma Practice Manual by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha is already available on-line in Chinese. Included in this course are the “Xiaman Most Excellent Oceanic Mind-Essence (Part I),” which must first be studied in P01-Introduction to the SAUMOL and the “Most Excellent Enlightenment Emptiness-Practice Oceanic Mind-Essence,” which includes “Verses Explaining Phenomena,” a “Vajrasattva Practice,” and a “Concluding Practice;” and the “128 Evil and Erroneous Views.” Most of the mantras and all the mudras and Dharmas are not included although some have been transmitted separately. A preliminary translation in English of brief discourses on each of the “128 Evil and Erroneous Views” by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is covered by Dharma Discourse D35(A). With an understanding of these views, you can evaluate other Buddhist teachings. The SAUMOL Dharma offers a more advanced form of cultivation practice than is offered as “DCB10-The Dharma of Cultivation (What Is Cultivation).“DCB10,“ D35(A),” and “P01-Introduction to the SAUMOL” along with other basic dharma courses are all prerequisites for this course. They enable you to develop Bodhichitta. You are training yourself to think, speak, and act like a Bodhisattva.

A third mind-essence, “Root Master Oceanic Mind-essence” has not yet been transmitted. The “Seven Joint Preliminary Practices,” which are part of both of the other great mind-essences are also included in the SAUMOL.  Several advanced tantric  practices are discussed in the SAUMOL including the Vajra Substitute Body Dharma, the Xian Liang Great Perfection Dharma, Tummo Concentration Dharma, and others. These are very high State practices that require inner tantric initiations and empowerments.

A video of a ZOOM recording of a Q&A session held after the first reading given of a preliminary English translation of Part I—the Introduction and second mind-essence of the Supreme and Unsurpassable Mahamudra of Liberation (SAUMOL) given at the Holy Vajrasana Temple in Sanger, California on March 7, 2021 is provided for your information. A video of a zoom discussion of the “Shifting the Mind” practice is also included. We pray that the English translation of the entire SAUMOL will be available for all living beings very soon. At present, the Holy Vajrasana Temple is reading portions of what we have in preliminary translation every Sunday morning at 6:00 am Pacific time.
