D14- Buddhism for Beginners, Opening the Crown

This course is based on a preliminary translation of a Dharma Discourse expounded in 2009 by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III on “To Attain Accomplishment and Liberation, One’s Crown Must Be Opened.” In this discourse the Buddha Master talks about the transformations within the six realms of reincarnation, how we can know what realm a person will be reborn in, and how we can actually be reborn in the Buddha lands and attain accomplishment or liberation. This involves the opening up of the crown. The different methods for achieving this are discussed in this short discourse.

The curriculum video is from a reading of a preliminary translation of this discourse by Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche at a Lemonade Sangha class given on April 16, 2022. Part of the Discussions held during that course are also included in a Q & A video.

Our school offers an introduction to the Practices and Blessings Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism. We offer certain practices that can enable you to become enlightened in this lifetime if followed precisely. This is possible with the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and by our cultivation of morality, meditation, and wisdom. We recognize and praise these holy beings by our chants and develop our wisdom through learning the Dharma. We also recognize that, at present, we only have preliminary translations that may contain errors, but that still offer us guidance on our path.
Part of our cultivation is to share any merit we receive with all living beings (not just humans). You will understand these concepts and principles as you study these courses.
