C40-Lam Rim Chen Mo

The Lam Rim Chen Mo or Broad Commentary on Levels of the Bodhi Path by Tibetan Master Tsongkapa (1357-1419) is considered the general training handbook used by the Geluk sect of Tibetan Buddhism and and excellent introduction to the critical concepts and principles of the Tibetan tradition. It is one of the commentaries recommended by the H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, who told us in Learning from Buddha that “If you are a master with disciples, you must at least study in depth some sutras and commentaries as a foundation, such as . . .  the Lam Rim Chen Mo . . . , and others. Doing so will reduce the possibility of leading others astray in the process of teaching.”

This course requires that “D35(A)-128 Evil and Erroneous Views” be completed as a prerequisite to taking this course. We are developing a study plan, but know that may take some time. We will use Michael Richards’ translation of Master Pabongka’s Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand, A Concise Discourse on the Path to Enlightenment, which is a famous teaching he offered in 1921 based on the Lam Rim. We urge you to start reading the text and even formulating your own questions and insights while the course is developed. Please contact the facilitator for this course, Reba Jinbo Rinpoche, for more information.

You will need to complete G01-Spiritual Autobiography, G03(A)-Evolution of Buddhism & the Five Vidyas, and  D35(A)-128 Evil & Erroneous Views as a prerequisites to starting this course.
